Stephen Beili
PFC Day Project Manager
Born in the 60's in North Carolina, Stephen was raised by two deeply involved Civil Rights activists. Their manner of treating all people with respect still inspires him to encourage ways in which people connect.
Stephen played piano and drums as a teenager. On Fridays when his band teacher got tired of her students' musical attempts, she would put on her 45's and teach everyone the LA Hustle. More than 30 years later, Stephen first heard the very danceable Playing For Change Band while at LEAF, a music festival near his hometown.
LEAF is the PFCF partner for the music program in Kigali, Rwanda. Early in 2011, Stephen decided to spend 3 months as a volunteer with this program, and through that experience, got to know the good people on the PFCF staff. In short time, Stephen and the team realized that his organizational and communication skills could be a good fit for a new project: PFC Day.
Stephen now acts as the point person for everything related to Playing For Change Day - and can't pass up an opportunity to say, 'If you don't already know what that is, please click here.'
