The Foundation has had a unique path given the viral interest in Stand By Me and the incredible response it generated among people all over the world. Since 2008 we have been very fortunate to have had virtually all administrative costs funded by designated contributions, leaving general contributions through 2009 available to be allocated to program in total, and in 2010 and 2011 allowing us to invest approximately 85 cents of every dollar raised into programs. In 2010 we began a significant effort to build the organization’s infrastructure in order to sustain current programs and position us to reach more children through music. This investment enabled us to create Playing For Change Day, which in its first year resulted in 225 events in 41 countries on 6 continents. This generous support has enabled us to build our organizational infrastructure in ways that would not have been possible otherwise.

As one of our students in Nepal stated, "Music is an indispensable part of life - you cannot live without music." We couldn't agree more. At the Playing For Change Foundation, we live our lives by this principle and apply it to everything we do. Thank you for being apart of this journey with us. Your support has given us the opportunity to provide the powerful and "indispensable" gift of music to children and their communities around the world.
