Ntonga Music School

In 2009 we completed our first music school, located in the township of Gugulethu, South Africa, a community in need of immediate assistance and inspiration.  Working together with local residents, the Foundation is helping to create a safe learning and sharing environment for children who now have access to mindful mentors and resources that were previously unavailable.   The new school and its social learning programs offer Gugulethu’s youth an alternative to the violence and deprivation they face daily.  In addition to building the school, the Foundation provides musical instruments, educational materials, and other necessities this center of compassion and creativity requires.  The school is lead by an enthusiastic and dedicated staff of music instructors and trained personnel who understand the unique challenges of their students.  The school will not only empower the people of Gugulethu to create positive opportunities for their community, but will also foster a greater connection to the rest of the world through the sharing of their music.  South Africans are striving to repair the damage and injustice created during Apartheid, and the Ntonga Music School is setting a strong example of how the country can come together to create a brighter future for its people.
