Create Your Own Campaign

1

Come up with a creative idea.

First you'll need to decide what kind of event you want to have; you could gather pledges for an upcoming run or walk you're participating in, screen a film about Playing For Change in your community, organize a car-wash or lemonade stand in your neighborhood, or come up with your own idea!
Here are some ideas from other PFCF volunteers:

Meaghan rode her bike across the United States to raise money for charity and made PFCF a beneficiary; students at Kelvin High School in Winnipeg, MB, hosted a "Spring Impromptu" night to celebrate the arts and raise funds; Australian musicians Samjjana donated a percentage of proceeds from sales of their album; the students and staff at Hudson Middle School in Hudson, WI, organized a fund raising carwash and donated the proceeds; Kyle and Elissa made a donation to PFCF in honor of the guests at their wedding.

2

Decide when and where your event will take place.

Planning a fund raising campaign or event will take organization and time, but it can be a rewarding experience for everyone involved. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to prepare for and promote your event.

If you’re hosting an event, be sure to pick a place that’s big enough for the number of guests you’re expecting. It might be a few friends or a few hundred people! It could be your school's auditorium, a local community center, or even your own living room. Be sure to ask permission of the owner or manager of the location before you begin planning, and find out if there is a rental fee for use of the space.

3

Share your idea with us and spread the word.

Send us an email telling us all about your idea so we can help you promote it and support your efforts. Think about what assets you need to make your event a success, then make a list of people you know that might be able to help and reach out to them. Who can donate their talent or skills? How many people will you need to assist you on the day of the event?

Be sure to download the digital toolkit to help spread the word about your event. Tell your friends and recruit volunteers, send an email to your contacts to let them know how they can get involved, create a Facebook event, tweet about it on Twitter, hand out fliers, hang posters, tell your local newspaper – whatever you can do to get the word out.
