Bizung School of Music & Dance

Prince Mahama is something of a living legend in Northern Ghana. During the 1980s he was a formative member of the Adom Professionals, an all-blind band that traveled extensively around Ghana. He has the honor of being the first musician in the Northern Region to sing originally composed songs in the Dagbani language with a Western band. The first song he wrote was a peace song titled “Ti Yum Taba”, or “We Are One”.

Since then he has released four albums including the hit “Wum ti Taba”, and was part of the compilation “Dagbani Mega Mix” with Dagbani musicians Ahmed Adam and Prince Okla. Prince plays guitar, keyboard, bass and drums. He is called “teacher” even by his young children, and has a patient disposition. Prince Mahama formed his current band, the Savannah Echoes, in 1998. They are the only live performing band to perform regularly around Tamale. He is also the National Vice-President for the Ghana Blind Sports Association.
