Glasswing Glee Club
Guatemala
Partner Program
Since 2024
PFCF has partnered with Glasswing International to unlock the musical and creative potential of youth in the communities of Mixco, Villa Nueva, and Guatemala City, Guatemala. We do this through Glee Club, an extracurricular program that fosters creativity through singing and dance. Glee Club has been implemented in 17 public schools in these communities.
With the support of Playing For Change, Glasswing has also established the Glee School in Villa Nueva, a training space designed for volunteers from the schools. This initiative expands educational and development opportunities for volunteers, which in turn enriches the learning experience of students.
Glasswing is a nonprofit organization based in Central America on a mission to build a brighter future for communities across the region. They address the roots and consequences of violence and poverty through programs that empower communities and unlock youth potential.

ABOUT GUATEMALA
Guatemala faces high rates of poverty and violence, as well as some of the region’s highest rates of inequality. Approximately 29.6% of the population lives in extreme poverty, 49.8% of children under the age of five suffer from chronic malnutrition, and Guatemalans attend school for an average of only four years. Around 70% of Guatemalans are under the age of 30, with limited economic and social contexts due to a lack of formal employment opportunities, low levels of education, and security concerns.
