At Zamane Festival this year, the annual Playing For Change Day event at the Joudour Sahara Music Program in Morocco, we brought together more than 150 traditional Gnawan musicians and youth from 12 communities, an unprecedented gathering in southeastern Morocco, to perform in unison, practice and preserve ancestral culture, and play for change. Watch this video recap of Zamane and witness musician and Ganga coordinator Azeddine Ait Faraji describe this Gnawan music – Ganga music – in particular the incredible opportunity some of the Joudour Sahara Ganga students had to play with Moroccan superstar Majid Bekkas!
