“I would like to express the gratefulness of all the inhabitants of Kirina. To tell the truth victims were in a situation of distress in this very difficult period now. Indeed, due to the destruction of the houses caused by the torrential rains August, 12th and 13th, 2018. (We) were not surprised to see you stand by us in this terrible situation.”

- Chief of the village of Kirina, Mali

In mid-August 2018 the village of Kirina, Mali was hit by a flood. Kirina, which is home to Playing For Change Foundation’s Ecole de Musique de Kirina, suffered incredible devastation. Many of our precious music students and their families are part of Kirina's farming community and witnessed their crops, community garden and homes destroyed.

As soon as you heard their need you responded.

Thank you for taking action with your gift to the Mali relief efforts. It is a beautiful example of what it means to be part of the Playing for Change Foundation family.

Because of your generosity, the Ecole de Musique de Kirina team has been able to purchase and distribute 1,000 kilos of rice, oil and other necessities for hundreds of villagers in Kirina, and more will be purchased and distributed over the next few days.

In addition the music school will be able to fix damaged instruments and assist in repairing the village garden and other needs so that the community can begin to heal, rebuild and the children can continue to learn music, and carry on their traditions.
