In October 2024, PFCF program Salam Music Program in the Bidibidi Refugee Settlement in northern Uganda hosted its annual Playing For Change Day festivity, welcoming PFCF staff and our co-founder Whitney Kroenke, along with 1500 community members to celebrate the opening of the brand new Bidibidi Music and Arts Center!
The center was built by our partner To.org, and this 2024 edition of Playing For Change Day was one of the first public events hosted at this new space. It stands unparalleled not just in Bidibidi, but in the northern half of Uganda, and is a beacon of hope for creatives not only among the South Sudanese refugee community, but local Ugandans and Congolese refugees as well. This center is a testament to the power of music to bring people together and help build peace among diverse groups of people through music and the arts.
