Celebrate Indigenous Change Makers!

From the Mapuche community in Argentina to the Amazigh people in Morocco and the Oglala Lakota in South Dakota, PFCF works to uplift and promote Indigenous peoples and cultures around the world. Establishing inter-generational programming, we work to position musicians to serve as mentors for local youth, preserving cultures, languages, and invaluable traditions at the heart of Indigenous identities among the communities we serve. Support us in acknowledging, celebrating, and furthering the hard work of Indigenous change makers from our programs globally

Argentina:

PFCF has been actively supporting Mapuche language classes and music activities at the Centro de Educación Mapuche “Norgvbamtuleayiñ,” a cultural center located in Neuquén, Argentina, as part of the Patagonia Music Program in Paso Cordova. This initiative is dedicated to preserving the rich Mapuche culture and language. Engaging activities are conducted at the music school, making a significant contribution to the transmission of Mapuche culture and values within the community.

Morocco:

Modern music teachers at Joudour Sahara in Morocco also released a Desert Blues EP ‘Torat Vol. 1’, fusing ancestral tribal rhythms and modern blues/rock music. This was recorded at Joudour Sahara in Morocco and mixed and mastered at our Wicahpi Olowan studio in South Dakota! Listen now!

Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota:

PFCF worked with local NGO First Peoples Fund to establish the Wicahpi Olowan Music Studio at the Oglala Lakota Artspace on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. This is the first professional, Native-run music studio on the Reservation, and in just 6 months has produced dozens of songs from Oglala Lakota musicians and youth accessing a professional studio for the first time.
