Luis Ladu

Adungu Dance Instructor

Salam Music Program – Uganda

Luis is a South Sudanese refugee who left his home country of South Sudan in 2016 and has lived at the Bidibidi Refugee Settlement since then. He is part of the United Adungu Band, a traditional group that perpetuates folk songs and the use of the adungu, a traditional bow harp from the region.

Luis is an instrument maker, carpenter, musician, and dancer, and has been involved with the Salam Music Program since 2022.

I want my children to know my cultural values and their practices so that they can be recognised in the community.
