The Kathmandu Music program brings music and arts education to young children and teenagers who live in the capital city of Nepal. Our work in Kathmandu started over 10 years ago, at the Mitrata home, an orphanage where we provided music lessons to hundreds of kids during more than a decade.
Our amazing team of music and arts teacher is now operating across several locations in Kathmandu, teaching traditional folk instruments such as Sarangi, Bansuri Flute or Madal drum, western instruments such as guitar, as well as dance and visual art lessons. The program specially focuses on the Newari musical heritage, as the Newar people are the historical inhabitants of the Kathmandu valley and have played an important role in shaping the Nepali cultural heritage along centuries.
