FormerVocal Teacher

PFC Patagonia, Argentina (Cinco Saltos)

My name is Carla Gisel Pavez, I am 21 years old, I am a student of the Initial Level Faculty and I am currently acting as an artistic instructor in the municipal school of Cinco Saltos. I am a born resident in the city of Cinco Saltos, province of Rio Negro, Argentina. My first steps in music started when I was 5 years old when I accompanied my father to rehearsals and folkloric clubs. From that moment I knew that music was becoming a fundamental part of my life. Some time later I started attending a church where there was a group of teenagers and young people who were doing different activities, until then my residence was in the city of Plottier. Among the activities was the singing workshop and that was how I began to get more involved with music.

At the end of 2013, I had a big change that affected my personal and musical life a lot. I made the decision to go live in the city of Cinco Saltos with my father, Oscar Raúl Pavez and his partner Gloria Ayelén Higuera, who for me are a pillar and references of life. The following year I started my third year at ESRN High School No. 72. That year, I had my first musical experience singing for a school event. After that presentation, I had the pleasure of being part of the school band, which helped me expand my musical knowledge and generated curiosity about the guitar. In the year 2017, through Angela Arribillaga, I met David Galdame, he contacted me to tell me and invite me to be part of the great project Playing for Change is. From that moment, I did not hesitate to accept the proposal. It all started with a project called RescatArte (founded by the Galdame coordinator). Its aim was the prevention of addictions in the schools. In this way, we started the search for artists to start with the musical ensemble of children and at the same time, musicians from the city were added to make up the adult band. This is how Playing for Change had its first beginnings until what is now a reality in our beloved city of Cinco Saltos.

My job with Playing for Change is to be the coordinator of the children's musical ensemble choir. In the little school, we not only transmit our knowledge as teachers but also learn from the children and instill that they follow this beautiful chain, share the music so that it does not get lost and continue to endure over time. Today my source of inspiration in life is my father, who fought for 15 years to be able to live with my brother and me. He, day by day, teaches me that to achieve dreams you have to fight and never give up. "
