Music teacher
Dirceu Edinho Torres Mosquera, known artistically as Cheusax or El Cubano, was born in the city of Quibdó, Chocó, in 1978. His connection with music began in 1996 during his studies at the C.A.S.D. (Auxiliary Center for Teaching Services), where he had his first approach to the alto saxophone, the instrument that would shape the course of his life.
After graduating from school, he began studying Public Accounting, but decided to abandon the career to dedicate himself fully to music. He enrolled at the Institute of Fine Arts of Medellín, where he deepened his knowledge of music theory and technique and obtained the title of Coordinator of Music Schools.
He has served as director of the Music Schools of San José del Palmar and Cantón del San Pablo, and as a music teacher in the Symphonic Band of Comfachocó.
Throughout his career, he has been part of various representative groups from the department of Chocó, including: La Bandita, Grupo Saboreo, Grupo Son y Sabor, Rancho Aparte, Madera Fina, Son Bacoso, and was the director of Alex Pichi y su Banda Show. Currently, he is a member of La Contundencia and Herencia Viva.
He has participated in numerous editions of the Petronio Álvarez Festival, standing out with groups such as Madera Fina—with which he won second place—, the Musical Group of the Technological University of Chocó, and Son Bacoso.
At this stage of his life, he has focused his work on the training of youth music ensembles. He is currently directing the ensemble band of the Bogando project
