Vocal Student performance, Bangladesh

We’re excited to share this performance by Mahima, a 13-year-old girl from the Kallyanpur slum outside Dhaka, Bangladesh 🇧🇩

Mahima has been attending the Mirpur Music Program for the past two years and is accompanied here by music teacher Raton Das on tablas.

The song performed is “Milon Hobe Koto Dine” (“When will the union happen?”), composed by Lalon Fakir (c. 1772–1890), one of the most influential figures in Bengali folk music and mystic philosophy.

Lalon’s songs transcend religious and cultural boundaries, offering deep spiritual insights through simple, powerful lyrics.

🎶 Support our mission to bring music education to young people in 26 countries and territories around the world.
