John Graves Shedd IV is an accomplished attorney and strategic advisor with extensive experience guiding some of the nation’s top developers, design firms, and investors through the legal and commercial complexities of real estate development. Over the course of his career, he has established a reputation for bridging the worlds of business and law — aligning project vision with legal precision to help clients deliver transformative, high-value developments across the United States and abroad.

Working at Greenberg Traurig, LLP, John represents leading real estate developers in all stages of large-scale projects — from acquisition and design through construction, financing, and dispute resolution. Known for his collaborative approach, he partners with cross-disciplinary teams in land use, finance, and litigation to deliver practical, business-oriented counsel that drives projects forward efficiently and securely.

Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, John served in senior in-house and private practice roles where he advised global organizations and premier real estate firms on matters spanning construction law, corporate governance, commercial leasing, and mergers and acquisitions. During this time, he managed legal operations and business affairs for a national real estate development and hospitality firm with a $10 billion portfolio, overseeing transactions from acquisition through disposition and providing strategic guidance to executive leadership. His combined in-house and private practice experience gives him a unique perspective on the commercial realities facing clients — enabling him to anticipate challenges, mitigate risk, and streamline execution in complex deals.
