Isatu Smith is a Sierra Leonean cultural heritage consultant and preservation specialist with extensive experience in heritage management, museum development, and historical conservation. She is the Managing Director of West Africa Heritage Consultants, where she has led projects including the Google Arts and Culture Sierra Leone National Museum Digitisation Project and is overseeing the Old Fourah Bay College renovation process.
Smith holds a Master’s degree in International Heritage Management from the University of Birmingham and a BA Honours degree from Fourah Bay College. She previously served as Chairperson of the Sierra Leone Monuments and Relics Commission, where she oversaw the rehabilitation and refurbishment of the National Museums. Recognized internationally for her expertise on Bunce Island and Sierra Leone’s cultural heritage, she has represented Sierra Leone at conferences and cultural events around the world and has appeared in major documentaries and international media including BBC, CNN, Reuters, and Al Jazeera.
