Djembé

Students playing Djembé

The djembé is probably the most popular african instrument around the globe. It is a west african Malinké drum, mounted with a goat or a cow skin, whose origins dates back to the 13th century. In Bambara or Malinké, “djembé” means “to gather”; this instrument accompanies a lot of important moments of the West African life.

This instrument is taught at:
École De Musique de Kirina – Mali
