Coordinator and Harmonium Teacher
Udayapur Music Program – Nepal
Sailendra is the harmonium teacher for students at the Udayapur Music Program. He is also the traditional music coordinator and teacher trainer in this music program. His expertise is performance and traditional harmonium training, guitar, madal, tabla drums, and vocal. He has personally trained 48 highly qualified music teachers. Truly dedicated to benefiting the kids, he travels 80 kilometers each way to teach.
During 29 years, Sailendra served as headmaster of a public school in Nepal. He was also president and music director in the Saptak Kala Kendra Music Institute. Shailendra has published 4 albums, and his songs are still a hit on Nepal radio.
Sailendra thinks music is essential for developing art, creativeness, and culture. Also, for the preservation of traditional norms and values. It helps cultivate disciplined, morally nurtured, responsible and skilled youth. He feels gratified to be working at the Playing For Change Foundation, and we are truly thankful to have him on our team.
