A Female Guitarist In Mali?

[siteorigin_widget class=”TTrust_Spacer”][/siteorigin_widget]
Meet Oumou Koulsoum Diarra, a young musician who conducts workshops to the students at Playing For Change Foundation’s Ecole de Musique de Kirina in Mali. Her presence as one of the only female instrumentalists in the area is significant, and serves as an inspiration to the girls she teaches. Here she explains how the school has impacted her life, the students, and rest of the community!
In honor of the upcoming International Women’s Day, Playing For Change Foundation is highlighting some of our female heroes – the teachers, musicians and students at our schools! Stay tuned for more interviews leading up to March 8th and please help us by donating a Dollar For A Dream!

This video has been entirely produced and edited by our team in Mali. Over the last 2 years, the creation of videos showing student interviews, performances and special events has become part of the regular activities at the school. We’d like to thank Seydou, Bagoré and the rest of the team and we invite you to follow L’Ecole de Musique de Kirina on Facebook to get updates straight from our team on the ground!
