Aziza Chaouni

PFCF Sustainable Design Advisor

Aziza was and raised in Fez, Morocco. She holds a Masters of Architecture with distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Civil Engineering from Columbia University. She is a TED Fellow and has previously given a TED Talk on the rehabilitation of the ancient Fez medina.

Aziza is an associate professor at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto and principal architect at Aziza Chaouni Projects (Fez / Toronto). She has partnered with us as the PFCF Sustainable Design Advisor on our exciting architectural projects for our programs around the world! Aziza is the co-founder of PFCF program Joudour Sahara in Morocco and was recently awarded the Holcim Global Prize for Sustainable Construction, the world’s most significant competition for sustainable design.

In addition to designing the award-winning Joudour Sahara cultural center, Aziza is already collaborating with the PFCF Bizung School in Ghana on music conservatory designs to change the landscape of what cultural opportunities are available within our community in Tamale. She is an expert in sustainable design and collaborative design, and her perspective will bolster our approaches to socioeconomic and ecological sustainability, as well as promote cross-sectionality in creating positive change around the world.
