Eric Salman

Guitar teacher

Imvula Music Program, Gugulethu South Africa

Eric Salman was born and raised in Cape Town, where his passion for music began during his high school years. He pursued tertiary education in music and graduated in 1992, specializing in music education and guitar studies.

With many years of experience in music education, Eric has worked as an ensemble instructor, music theory educator, and guitar teacher. He believes that music plays an important role in the development of young people by helping them stay disciplined, focused, and motivated in their academic studies, while also keeping them away from negative influences on the streets.

Inspired by legendary jazz guitarists Wes Montgomery and George Benson, Eric is passionate about teaching students how to read and write music, as well as developing their performance skills.

Throughout his career, he has guided learners to perform on major stages such as the National Arts Festival and the Artscape Theatre Centre. He currently teaches music theory, guitar, and ensemble classes at Eluxolweni Primary School, where he continues to inspire and mentor young musicians through the power of music.
